Default wheel bearings

Front wheel bearings for a 2001 SSEi. How do I tell if I have the 1st generation with the steel wire clip, or the 2nd generation with the plastic wire clip. I pulled my front wheel and all I can see is the electrical connector clipped into a metal bracket coming out of the hub. Where is this wire clip? Are the 2 generations interchangeable?

It refers to the clip ON the wheel speed sensor connector itself. This clips attaches the connector to the knuckle. Mine were metal.

So I have to remove the assembly in order to see the clip? Are they interchangeable?

IIRC they are interchangable, easy way is to crossreference a 2000 and a 2003

No you do not have to take it apart. Just look at the ABS connector the clip that holds that connector to the bracket on the knuckle is what you are looking at. I am pretty sure it should be a metal clip
