mine is 18% all the way around no problems ever i have had 2 cars before this one the were tinted the same
the legal here is 35 on the back 50 on the sides

Chapter 90: Section 9D. Windshields and windows obscured by nontransparent materials, signs, stickers, etc.; penalties.


Section 9D. No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any public way or upon any way to which the public shall have the right of access with any of the following affixed thereto:

(1) a sign, poster or sticker on the front windshield, the side windows immediately adjacent to the operator'* seat and the front passenger seat, the side windows immediately to the rear of the operator'* seat and the front passenger seat and the rear window in such a manner so as to obstruct, impede or distort the vision of the operator.

(2) nontransparent or sunscreen material, window application, reflective film or nonreflective film used in any way to cover or treat the front windshield, the side windows immediately adjacent to the right and left of the operator'* seat, the side windows immediately to the rear of the operator'* seat and the front passenger seat and the rear window, so as to make such windshield and said window glass areas in any way nontransparent or obscured from either the interior or exterior thereof.



hmmm wonder if this applies to tint? I have 35% all the way around and get pulled over all the time because of it, never got a ticket though. I'm thinking it'* just because they like the car...lol

I got tint on my windows and would NOT recommend doing it. If you're particular about your Bonnie you will,after tinting always see small bubbles and it just looks cheap to me. Plus it has this darn edge around the top of the roll down windows that looks like crap. Leave it the way it came from the factory,- easier to clean, looks better, doesn't go bad that'* my 2 cents.

I forgot the % of my tint. But I know I got light all around.
I had medium all around on my Malibu and it seem to dark
out the back window at night. And like TD said, in IL state
no tint on front. Not been pulled over for my tint. But when
they do they also tell me that I can't have it on the front.

Did you do the job yourself? If not, then the shop you go to sucks... any good shop should garuentee against any and all fading and bubling...

They can guarantee all they want, I bet you if you are trying to find small bubbles you WILL find them. I have not seen a car yet that had zero bubbling after tinting,-again you'll have to be particular to see them. I'm not talking about huge easliy visible bubbles, I'm talking about small needle size ones that'll turn into BIG ones in no time. Then you'll take your car back in under warranty and, gee they'll re-do it and while stripping the old tint the screw up something else, sound familiar? or do you trust all repair shops?

All that I know is that the shop that I am going to get my tint done at is awesome. They have done a few of my friend'* cars, and I have looked extremly close... no bubbles. I wouldn't say that I trust all repair shops, but the ones I frequent, yes I do.

mine is 20% all the way around and i'm always getting harrassed about it. I'm fixing to get mine redone because it is bubbling and peeling off. Not for sure what I'm going to go with it.

I would watch out for window tint because there are alot of tinting products out there that also block radar transmission making it extremely hard for even the best radar detectors to warn you with enough time to slow down. Even though most people say that you don't need radar detection from the rear but I highly recommend looking for tinting products that state that they will not block radar.
