Hello! I want to buy a 2000 ssei but I dont know what too look for in buying it. I currently own a 1999 SLE and I want to upgrade a bit ya know? So please if you could tell me what to look for/notice such as problems at certian mileages, etc. That would be great!

Check your belts, check for any coolant sitting on top of the engine around the joints between the head and LIM. Check for bad coolant, foamy oil, any odd sounds in the engine. Any kind of leak, things like that. Also check for water in the trunk where the spare tire is.

Regarding the trunk leak problem. I re-sealed the rubber lip that surrounds the opening. I pulled it off, siliconed it really well, and its been bone dry since.

I would be wary of a worn transmission. I would take it for a LONG drive (with some highway and some stop and go) on a hot day and then pull into a local mechanic. Check the temp of the tranny, and look for any signs of leaks on the underside of the motor/trans.

Also check EVERY electrical accessory and try every window .
