Vibration and such...
Ok, my car has a pretty bad vibration above 50-ish. Not bad enough to affect drivability, but bad enough that the car is starting to squeak and rattle and make noises. I can't figure out what the problem is. I've had the tires balanced twice, a little better, but not enough to make a real difference. It was that way before I hit the curb, but I don't remember it being that bad. Someone told me bearings, but at 120 bucks apiece, I want to make sure thats the problem. If they were damaged, could I just take them apart and see it?
What kinda noise would the half shafts make? When I turn to the right at speed there'* a little harmonizing sound, WA-WA-WA-WA....but yeah, I'm confused and the bonne'* parked until I find out what'* goin on.

My car does the same thing. Dealer says it'* the tires. I say, ok, then give me somenew tires because I made sure they put it on the Due bill when I bought the car. All of a sudden they're looking at it a little more closely. I've given them the info from here regarding the vibration so we'll see what they come up with......Most of the itme it'* the wheel hubs I think.
They're way more than $120 each. The hub, bearing and wheel speed sensor are all one part.
When turning at those speeds do you feel it get stronger or weaker in any given direction?
If the feeling is less when you turn right then its the drivers side bearing, if it grinds more when turning right its the passenger side. Ditto when turning left.
You may want to try turning over a few speed bumps at the mall parking lot, might help point out which bearing.

Does it make some strange noise when you turn like in a parking lot (im not talkin about wheel bearing noise) like a strange brake sound?
My bearing on the top of my left front strut went and i was getting vibration from it, my left wheel had tendency to stay a bit closed or opened depending wich side i turned before i went to a straight line. (Thats what the dealer told me, anyway now its fine after they replace it)
Was shaking from 40mph to 70mph, and it was intermittent, a bearing will always grin, but not shake, it will make noise a long time before it can shake in the car.

Doesn't make any funny noises or anything until it'* up to speed. I've got a new bearing comin' in tomorrow morning, I'm gonna tear it apart tonight and see if there'* anything obvious...I'll keep y'all posted.
