Default Vibration @ 65

I've started to experience a bad vibration at exactly 65 mph and don't know whats causing it. I've had the tires re-balanced and rotated at Firestone twice in the past week but that didn't solve the problem. The car has 55K miles on it, the tires have 1100 miles on them and the suspension is all good according to Firestone. Any guesses as to what the problem is?

Vibration of one type or another has been a fairly common topic. Wheel balancing, 4 wheel alignments, CV and axle checks, Hunter road force balancing, hubs, brake rotors, new tires, etc., have all been tried as a solution. Some have had some success. Some are still searching for a cause, or at least have not reported back.

Had the same issue with mine, and after going through everything, it turned out the tires were "out of round" (Goodyear RSA'*), so I replaced them and my problem is pretty much gone. I get the occasional vibration, but nothing that can't be lived with.

Alignment is fine, and no, my "vibration" is still there...It'* something I guess I'll just have to live with.

Did the vibration just start or has it been there since you got the car?

It started about two weeks ago. I stopped off at the dealer yesterday and they took it out for a quick rode test and felt the vibration, but didn't have time to look into it further. They did however order a new intermediate shaft and will be replacing it under their 12/12K repair warranty since there is a new TSB for it and I had it relubed back in April. They will look into my vibration problem then. Also, I've started to hear a rubbing/moaning noise coming from the left front tire area during full lock left turns in parking lots.

I hate to say this, but I had a moaning noise coming from the same side as yours, it turned out to be my rack and pinion. You might want them to check that out also.

There'* a TSB for the moan in the steering also, but it only shows for model years 00 & 01.
