If you guys are looking for a solution to rock chipped hoods, you may want to try this stuff:

I am thinking about giving this stuff a try on the kick out in front of the rear wheels to keep it from being sandblasted while driving down the road.

They also make a clear 'film' that you can put on so any bugs/rocks hit that and not your paint. As far as the deflectors go, they are pretty cool. We have one on our explorer and it saved me a ton of time from scraping all of the bugs off after our trips to SC...

It didn't do squat for my old X. I do miss it though. Very fun offroad.

Yup, I was on there all the time. I kept my user ID the same, EXPLR1 as well as my plate. I plan on getting another X when gas prices go back down.

Link doesnt work Jim. Also, when installing one of the hoodflectors make sure that no rubbing occurs. If it is not put on properly it will rub the paint right off the metal.

Thanks for the link. I like that stuff better than the Scotchcal (which is only 3.75" wide). I think I may buy about 10' of the 6" wide stuff and give it a try. Especially for on the ground effects on the sides.
