Default Trouble with AC and Window - Help!

Ok, this is very strange - a few weeks ago my AC stopped working so I thought I would have to get it recharged, no cold air coming out. The next day it worked fine and has been working until today. That same day the front driver'* window wouldn't go down - heard a click but nothing happened, the rest of the windows work fine from the driver'* door. The window also started working again. A few days ago it stopped again and then today the AC didn't work, worked, and didn't work. I'm baffled... Could it be an electrical problem? Any ideas? I'd like to avoid taking it in to the shop if possible, at least without knowing what'* wrong. Thanks for your help!

As far as the A/C, it may require a charge as a basic place to start diagnosis, possible small leak in the system. Does the A/C compressor clutch engage at all? And if it does engage, does it cycle? It should not cycle, this would indicate low refrigerant charge. The window, sounds like the drive motor or regulator or both are at fault. You may have to remove the driver door interior trim panel to get a close look at things. Does the driver door mirror operate? The click you hear when depressing the window control switch indicates that the driver door module is powered up. Also the fact that the 3 remaining windows operate normally indicates that the 30A WDO breaker in the rear fuse block is not tripped.

When you say the air conditioner doesn't work,
do you mean the blower isn't blowing?
do you mean the air coming from the blower isn't cold?
do you mean the air comes from the wrong openings in the dash?

If it'* the air not blowing, my first thought would be blower control module if you've got the automatic digital control system.

It blows just fine, but there'* no cold air. I think I'm going to try to take it in and get it recharged. The window is working again so I'll just leave it for now.

Ok, update on the AC - I took it in and they couldn't get it to NOT work. The mechanic said something about GM cars having a problem with a switch and that might be all it is but he couldn't diagnose it with it working fine

Is it sending you cold air now? Did the mech. identify the switch that may be the problem?

It'* still blowing cold air just fine. I've been using the recirculate once the car is cool - I don't know if that makes a difference or not. We'll see how long it lasts... It has worked for short time spans and the air just keeps getting warmer and warmer until it'* hot and not working at all, but it refused to do it for the mechanic - he even took it for a couple drives to give it time to get hot. I don't know what the switch is called, sorry

Recirculation mode is intended for initial cooling when the interior is really hot. Once cooled down, shift out of recirculate to bring in fresh air.

Yeah, I usually don't use it but he suggested that I try it. I think the switch is for the thermostat

There have been some problems with actuators that could keep it from blowing cold. I wonder it that is what he meant instead of a switch.
