Default transmission swap

I have 2002 pontiac bonneville and my transmission going out and i have a transmission out of 2000 buick regal laying around. I was wondering if it was compatible. they both have the same mounting points. it had the same motor i have already used it in my bonneville.

They could have different final drive ratios. Solenoids might be different in them. Speed sensor could be different also. You'd be surprised as what might be different even between just a couple of years.

Do you have access to both RPO stickers(white sticker with a bunch of numbers on it in glove box)

Usually its the other way around. Bonneville'* tend to have the taller ratio for sporty accelerations. Hence the gramma car of Buicks.
