Transmission fluid
I'm going to be doing a pan drop fluid + filter change soon. Was wondering if anyone has noticed any difference between a Dex III or universal Dex/merc fluid vs Dex VI. In the past I've used the universal, but was wondering if the Dex VI was worth switching to.
Also, any particular brands of ATF recommended, or to stay away from? I frequent bobistheoilguy.com and Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc seems to be the preferred choice, short of dropping big bucks on Amsoil or the like.

DEX VI is absolutely worth the switch to. May have saved me a rebuild. Walmart Dextron VI 3.77, AutoZone/ Advance Auto 5.99.
D VI also made my AWD Bravada shift many times better.....

So the D VI from Wally is ok for you? Super Tech is the house brand. From what I understand, there is only a single add pack that can be added to the base oil to qualify an ATF as D VI. D III has more leeway so long as some basic parameters are met. The differences are in the base stock oils, I think.
