Default Transmission

While Driving the car, usually after it'* warm, I hear a high pitch squeaking noise from the engine - it'* intermittent. When I hear that noise - the transmission bangs into gear. I just had the LIM gasket changed, but I had this problem previous to that. As I mentioned, it'* intermittent- but it seems to be happening more often now.

Could it be a belt or a pulley? Any ideas?

I think the squealing could be pulley or something...not much to go on for diagnosis though.

As for the trans..I'd have a shop professionally diagnose it.

Thanks!... Yeah - it'* so hard to describe these noises - and it never happens when someone else is in the car of course. The sound is like a chirping - and when I hear the sound the tranny acts up - always. The check engine light is on too, but that'* been going on and off since the LIm gasket was changed.

I'm taking it in tomorrow to have it scanned, but I was hoping maybe someone here would have an "ah ha" moment and could tell me what the problem was when the same thing happend to them.

Could it be a vacuum leak causing a squeaking? A vacuum leak could affect driveability and cause erratic shifting and could turn on Check Engine light. Could there be a vacuum tube partly off?

Yeah it could be a vacum leak but with not much to go on its a shot in the dark.
Can you get the codes? Autozone will pull the codes for free.

Whats the tranny fluid level, what color is the fluid, when was the last tranny service?

You know the best way to find a leak?

Post that you are in Ohio.. you need a hand and there'll be some beer on hand. BC members respond really well to the cold, tasty beverages.

You'll have it figured out and fixed up in a heartbeat. Just hope the MN guys don't come. They took the whole car apart looking for a little squeak last year.

:P Took it back today - the Codes where P0401 and P1811.
They changed the tranny fluid and said it was a little dirty. Saying maybe a little piece of dirt stopped the fluid from flowing and the computer forces the tranny to work harder and that'* why it clunks from gear to gear and is intermittent. Time will tell if that fixes it. I had the tranny fluid changed at 60K miles, it now haw 82K miles.

I drove it 20 miles on the freeway and so for it'* goood. There'* a tiny little vacuum hose they're going to replace next week.

If this doesn'et fix it, Ill be buying beer
