Default traction

When I floor the accelerator in my 2000 SE, I just sit there spinning my tires there are very good tires also. If I do the same in my uncles 2001 SE the car just thakes off with no spinning, even with no traction control. Why is there a difference?

neither car should just sit there spinning the tires, the torque management should prevent that from happening
