Default Thump from left rear

My Dad'* Bonneville has a pretty loud thump when you go over a bump. Seems to be coming from the left rear wheel area. Nothing seems to be lose. Shocks are good (recently replaced- thump unchanged) -- it actually sounds to me, from the inside of the car, to be an exhaust type of thump- like from a broken hanger- but it is not that. It is quite loud. Could it be from the bearings? We have looked at darn near everything and cant find the source. Thoughts?

We had a similar noise for about 2 months and could not figure it out. Ended up being something loose in the trunk, can't believe how much time I spent under the car looking......

I had a similar issue on the driver'* side. It ended up being the rear control arm stabilizer link, it has sort of a ball joint on the end which would rattle around while going over bumps.

I had the same problem, it was the rear adjust link. When the car had weight on it,there was no visible problem. When on the hoist and no weight on the wheels, the ball joint separated within the rubber.
