Default Safety recall warranty work performed

I took my car in to get the fuel pressure regulator fixed. I also had the intermediate steering shaft done, since I was starting to experience the "clunk" in the steering. I also mentioned that the emergency brake cable was hanging down (factory piece that held it was broke). Got all work done at no charge.

Granted, I am still inside of my warranty period, but the dealer didnt even blink when I asked them to do the stuff outside of the recall. Infact, they even threw in an alignment/tire rotation in for free.

I felt like great when I got my car back and knew it was serviced the way it was supposed to be, plus a little more.

My Monte is going in for the same thing. I got a red card in the mail last week. I have read a lot of these reports on the Monte forums. It'll be great news for the others...maybe they'll get their money back for the work done.

What is this recall? Mine must not have it - or I did not get the notice.

The only recall I had was the dealer changing the nuts on the intake manifold - to prevent cracking??? Or so I was told.

I dont know anything about the fuel regulator recall though. Can you fill me in?

Do we have a place where these are stored instead of looking all over the board? I'm sure a database of all recalls for all years as well as maybe TSB'* would be well appreciated by all.

I have noticed a sort of "clunk" in the steering wheel during low speed manuevers on my 02 SSEI. As in backing out of the driveway. It seems that I can feel it in the steering wheel more than I can hear it. Was this the same problem that you experianced, and what was replaced to fix the problem? TIA

That is exactly what I experienced. There is a TSB for this. The dealer will lubricate the intermediate steering shaft. It is very common and as soon as you mention it, the dealer service manager will know what you are talking about.
