Default RUST - on a two year old Bonne!!!

Take a look at these pictures, then take a look under your own dash and see if any of you also have rusted pedal brackets for your accelerator and parking brake. These are the steel brackets that support the pedals to the firewall and the dash frame. If they are this rusted in two years, imagine what ten years will look like. I think there is more water intrusion than is outwardly apparent.

I this common or just more good luck for me?

i guarantee there is surface rust all over you car, there is going to be surface rust on nearly EVERY new car. it just surface rust, it happens, and its not necessarily a reflection on how the car is goign to hold up over time

Well when I compared them to my 2004 Tahoe, my truck brackets look like new. It is 3 years old and has 76K on it. I was wondering if the Bonne'* have super moist insides from poor water dispersal design, ie- trunk and sunroofs.

Yup, look at ANY GM behind the dash at those brackets, they will have surface rust, no matter where you look.

Shoot, we've had parts that weren't painted or anything that had developed surface rust within just a couple months.

But it'* the appearance that bugs me. I hate seeing rust on stuff. It'* dirt cheap to zinc plate small stuff like that so there is no reason why they can't do it.
