I have a question regarding new engines for '00 SSEi. Is this car able to take a V8 without too much modification? I haven't spent much time under my hood, so I don't know much at all about the subject. The ideal engine would come from a new GTO, but I'm willing to look at other things as well. Thanks.

The Northstar was an option and should fit. No idea how much other stuff needs to change though.

why would you want to? You can make your existing engine more powerful than most anything you can swap in there

plus you would need the entire drivetrain, transmission, wiring harness, etc.

Hans does have a point. Your current motor has more potential than a northstar ever will.

yup been proven many times, before the 3800SC has alot of mods and is more fun around town, with all the low end torque

There right 3800 (L67) has more mods than will every be around for the N* but hey I wouldn't stop you from putting a Northstar in it. Although it will require a new 4T80E transmission and umm new computer and harness. The L67 will use your 4T65 HD. And uhh you can get a Series II or III! (Series III should work and makes 20 more hp!)[/url]

Solid_Dark the changeover would be extreme and worthy of a Monster Garage episode. Not only the entire drive train but also the harnesses and computer(*) would have to be swapped. The N* is packed in the GXP like Grama in her Sunday girdle. And to throw in the white towel and go with the resident think tank,.. significant mods to the LD8 aren't possible. I'm nitrousing mine just because there really is'nt much else to do.

About the only thing I can think of similar is what happened here at my house. 90 SSE went from N/A 160hp to SC 240 HP
