Default Replace serpentine fan belts

What should a "reasonable cost" be to replace the fan belts on my '01 SSEi ? The dealer quoted me ~$275 total. Sounds high to me - anyone else?

there are no fan belts on your SSEi.

replace the sepentine belt? If you pay someone to do it for you, you better only have one outfit, a white tux. Even then, you should do it naked.

It is probably the easiest maintenance item you can do on your car.

The dealer should be able to replace a belt in 5 minutes, anything over $20 is a joke.

If you have a socket wrench, a 15mm socket(might be 13mm...), a T50 torx bit and 15 minutes to spend, you'd be crazy to pay that much. It'* VERY easy. Cost for the two belts shouldn't exceed $50-60 total.

At the labor rates here in CA, that is over two hours!!!

Go to a different dealer or as Haro says, do it yourself...

Thanks guys!

I had already decided I was going to do it myself. It took me about 10 minutes last time to replace the belt(*) on my GMC truck. I just needed a chuckle on what the friggin' dealer was going to charge me!

Haro, I'm still "old school" when it comes to nomenclature ... it comes from wrenching on my '55 chevy over the past 25 years!

An update to my original post -

Changed the belts myself at a total cost of ~$60 for both belts. Took ~15 minutes.

For those interested, part numbers for the belts are:

Supercharger - GM # 12588414 ACDelco # 6K725 21mm X 1855mm size

Main belt - GM # 12588413 ACDelco # 6K926 20mm X 2364mm size

Cheers!
