Recalibrating the Compass?

It'* interesting how sensitive these units are. I have had to recalibrate mine probably at least a dozen times since new and yet, we also have a 1988 Caravan that in 16 years has never had to be recalibrated. Maybe GM should let Chrysler supply the compasses.
IN our 98 Yukon we've only recallibrated it when we've driven accross the magnetic regions, as suggested in the Owner Manual. Dunno where the sensor is in that car, but it'* not nearly as exposed as the Bonneville'*.

I think it'* weird that some cars of problems with it. I have a fair amount of electronics in my trunk and have only had to set the compass once. works perfect all the time even with two large magnets within 16in. of it.
