radio reception is terrible
The radio reception in my 2001 SLE is terrible, and has been so since purchasing the car about 4 months ago. I cannot get most AM stations in unless I am within a couple miles of the tower, and most FM stations are full of static and unbearable to listen to. I've been stuck listening to only tapes and CDs. I have only found one post directly dealing with this problem, but the only "solution" was to get satellite radio. I don't want to go this route, I want to fix the reception problem.
The problem is always present and doesn't appear to be influenced by other functions such as defogger, etc. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are two antennas for the radio in our cars...one in the windshield and one in the back window and they both connect to the antenna control module which is attached along the roof line in the back. The headliner will have to be dropped some to get to it. Check all connections, as well as power to this module.
