Pulley bolt direction

Pulley bolt direction

Can someone confirm the direction pulley #8, the grooved idler pulley, is threaded. I assumed from the direction of belt travel that the bolt is a standard thread, righty tighty. However, in trying to loosen it, I'm afraid of breaking something so I just wanted to be sure I'm trying in the right direction.

It is a standard thread.

So, knowing it'* a standard thread, I equipped my 3/8" ratchet with an extension on the ratchet handle to give me more mechanical advantage and promptly snapped a good Craftsman T50 torx bit in half. This after shooting PBBlaster into the back side of the pulley and letting it soak for 2 days.
Looks like a trip to my favorite mechanic is in the works.

Is that the type that looks a lot like a socket, but then has the bit (torx or hex) sticking out the other end? I've found that those can't take much. I've broken many of them without using much force.

Some of them are one piece. Autozone sells the AmPro line that seem to be decent quality.

Alternatively, auto parts stores and Sears carry Lisle brand "one-piece" torx bits (individually and in sets).

For future reference to anyone reading this, the bolt is left hand thread. I broke down and took it to my favorite mechanic who said that he started out by assuming from the belt travel that it was right hand thread. However, when that didn't work, he eventually realized it was left hand.
I figure I got off pretty easy for $37.
