I have noticed over te past few days that I can smell burning oil coming from my car. I am not sure were it is coming from but the best I can think would be the valve cover gasket is leaking and falling onto the rear manifold. Has anyone had this before I am just wondering if it might be something else before I go and jump into this.

Can you spot any oil seepage from there? If it is the VC gaskets, they are cheap and easy to replace, I would do them. Just to get an idea, how many miles are on the car? If those are leaking you might need LIM gaskets too by now.

Check for seepage at oil pan up top, there has been a few leaks.

valve cover gasket failures are rather common on our motors, i wouldnt be surprised at all if thats where its coming from

Just turned over 70,000, I haven't had a chance to look it over thoroughly, but I did not see any seepage on the front VC. I will have to get the mirror and flashlight out for the rear. I will check the oil pan too. Does anyone sell a kit for the LIM, UIM, and VC? I may just do it all since it is fairly easy, although I did check the cap and did not see any moisture but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Anything I can do to prevent this from happening again since I just got the car a week and a half ago and it'* gonna be around for the long haul.

Yep, I just did my valve cover gaskets... 80,0000 miles. Smelled burning oil when I would give it throttle and kick in Supercharger.

well for preventative maintenance and a clean engine, definitely replace the VC gaskets, you can get them at any parts store in pairs,

as far as the UIM, you don't have one, you have a supercharger sitting in place as the upper intake. and i really don't know if or how often you change the supercharger gasket. but it can't hurt.

LIM...if you're going to do the LIM gaskets, you're going to want to get the aluminum framed gaskets from the dealer, they are much better than the regular old felpro. but if you do that, be sure to flush out that nasty dexcool and replace it with something like Prestone Long Life. If you want to know the effects of dexcool, do a search here and you can see some of the stuff people have seen.

Make sure to flush it or have the cooling system flushed VERY well prior to changing the LIM.

I'd concur wtih the thoughts that it'* most likely the cover gaskets. As Toasty mentioned..it'* quite common. It'* also about the only thing above the exhaust.

I have seen some pretty nasty LIM, I have done numerous L36'* on the Impala'* we have at work. Unfortunatly they make us use Dex Cool after we do them :( . I just figured the L67 had a UIM for the Supercharger which looks like just a paper gasket more to seal it than anything I am guessing? Is there any brand in particular I should get or are they all the same for the VC? Thanks.

Fel pro or Delco are the basic ones for the VC gaskets that most use. They look identical to me.

The UIM isn't usually a cause of leaking on our motors..it'* more the LIM gaskets. At least once you get 60K+.
