Default Parking brake woes

I went to the track sunday with the new DR'* and couldn't get my parking brake to lock, therefor couldn't get any burnout in the waterbox and ran worse times than i did on street tires last year. HUGE disappointment and i ended up leaving after 3 runs. Do you have to pump the parking brake a few times before locking it, or is my parking brake shot? Come June when i put headers in the car will be up on stands anyways so i plan on doing new rotors/pads/lines at that time anyways but it was just frustrating that a parking brake is what kept me from getting a decent time.

If I understand correctly, you couldn't get the brakes to activate using the emergency brake pedal, not that the pedal won't lock into position. Less than one full stroke should give you a firm pedal. If not, either the cable needs adjustment, or it is broken somewhere between the pedal and the rear brakes.

Yes, one full stroke, the pedal locks but my rear wheels still turn. My dad said something about his truck having separate pads for the parking brake but i don't think ours is setup like that.

When you say adjust it are you referring to that turnbuckle type nut located on the parking brake cable that you see when your under the car changing a fuel filter?

You're right. Our cars use the pads and calipers for the parking brake. Adjustment is listed here.
