Default That ole P0449

Hi
I'm a new member and this is my first post, so bear with me.
I've just acquired a 2000 SE (124,000 mls) The MIL is on permanently and it'* setting a P0449 code. I understand this is due to a malfunction with the EVAP system. Changing the fuel cap didn't cure the problem. I've spent days sifting through all the posts on this subject and it seems likely to be a "vent valve/solenoid" issue.
I've been under the car but can't locate either valve or solenoid (or, is it all one unit?). Someone wrote that it was near the back wheel, but darned if I can see it. There are a couple of old links to bonnevilleclub.com on the forum, that might have supplied this information, but they're all dead.
Questions:
1. Where exactly on the car are these items?
2. Does anyone know the part numbers? I've tried numbers given in posts on this forum, but according to gmpartsdirect.com they don't appear to exist anymore.
Thanks, in advance.

According to my 2000 FSM, it'* under the car, in front of the gas tank on the front side of the wheel wheel hump on the drivers side. It will have an electrical connector and a hose. The hose runs to the EVAP canister.

Thanks, Kevin. That should make it easier to find. Now, can anyone help with the part number?
