I suggest changing the oil and filter right away. Then do the pressure sender as well.
|
I changed my pressure sensor recently. For some reason O' Reilly's had two. One for if you had a guage, one for if you have the idiot light. The only problem is their computer doesn't distinguish which is which. I had to order both and guess LOL.
|
The mechanic I took it to says he is 100 percent sure it is the actual guage that is the problem. So for free he is going to fix it. I hope that is the problem.
|
Do you really think it is the actual guage that is the problem sounds unlickely to me. But the tech has been around for 30 years and he swears its the guage. What do you all think what kind of troubleshooting can I do to determine if it is actually the guage.

The gauge/gauge cluster is going to be very expensive to replace. In this case I think the cheapest and easiest thing is to have the oil pressure switch replaced. If he's a good mechancic, he should be able to test the oil presure switch with a digital multi meter and verify it's working condition.

Come to find out you were right it was the oil sending unit...all works great now no more warning lights!!!!

Your welcome!

I love when we are right and the mechanics looking at it are wrong :thumbup2
Now you see why I started doing all the work on my car myself |
Exactly! way more satisfying and A LOT less expensive.
