Guy had my car up on the hoist and I noticed my oil pan has a seep at a corner of it, not enough to actually be losing oil but bothersome, anybody else have this or fixed it.It dont look like there is a gasket, are these the ones with gasket maker.Is it as easy as it looks to fix.

Haven't had the problem. I would drop the oil pan at the next oil change and replace with new oil pan gasket. Holler if you need help with procedures & torque specs. Oil pan bolts are tightened to 125 inch lbs.

FYI...the gasket has an integrated anti-splash tray. It'* molded plastic with a rubber-embedded gasket. In order to remove the gasket, the oil pick-up tube has to be removed. That requires removing two bolts. Pick up a fresh pick-up tube gasket. Dealer sells them for less than a buck...

03 with 26k Miles and mine was really leaking. Warrantied. Pat

Well,this makes it more difficult so I need 2 gaskets.

Vital is correct you need to remove the oil level sensor to remove the pan. Also there is a lower control mount on the passenger side that will need to have the bolts removed. 18mm I recall.
I had to change mine out last spring :?

You may want to check with the local dealership as to if they use an engine sealant for the job.

Many of us 96-99'* have seep issues as well. It really comes down to the dealers add engine sealant to each 96-99 pan and don't have any issues.

My 98 has seepage at the bolts but never drips-just has a little oil clinging. I had to replace the starter. The rebuild shop noted a little oil on the outside of the starter when I took it back and said if I had an oil leak that can cause a starter to go out (138K mi). So I tightened the oil pan bolts slightly when I got home. I'll check at next oil change to see if seepage on the bolts has stopped.

Can oil cause a starter to quit. It died slowly by acting a little like a battery that'* going bad. It would just not sound as strong at first occasionally; other times it started just fine. One day it wouldn't crank at all. Solenoid clicked sometimes and not others when the key was turned.

The seepage won't go away...lol I did the same

Thats what I was thinking of trying, retorqueing the bolts.The one corner about 3-4 inches has oil down the side the rest is dry.It does not drip nor have I found any signs on the driveway as car does sit for 3 days at a time sometimes.Clean it up retourque for now , the job seems bigger than I thought after all the input.
just to be sure 10 lbs same as 120 inch lbs I only have wrench in lbs.Dont want to F@$K it up you know.
