Default New Remote/Programming

Hello guys, I need some information for my mother-in-law'* bonnie. She needs a new remote for the doors/trunk and stuff. The dealer quoted her $120 for the remote + programming. I've had 4 grand prix'* and I know with those, you could program them yourself. Can anyone give me a suggestion on where to get one of these remotes and how to program it yourself?

Thanks in advance, and I really enjoy driving my mother-in-laws bonnie, you guys have kick *** cars, I loved my GP'* and these are just a better overall car inside and out, very nice. I tried convincing my wife to get one when we got rid of her GP, but apparently having the same car as your mom is unacceptable to her. We ended up with an LS V-8, which we love, but it'* still a freaking FORD.

eBay is the best source for fobs.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/techinfo/?article=61 for programming. Many fob retailers will also provide you with the instructions when you buy from them.

Note that this article is for OBD2 only. 87-95 vary, and those articles are also in Techinfo.

You can try holding lock + unlock for 20 seconds next to the vehicle, but this does not always work. Otherwise, the dealer will do it for $40 in about 5 minutes.

Use a fused jumper wire in order to jumper the DLC terminal 8 (BLK/WHT) to terminal 4 (BLK).

I'm confused on this part, no idea what or where the DLC terminal 8 is or the terminal 4.

ALDL diagnostic connector where you would connect a scantool under the steering column. 16 pin connector shaped like this:

Well, I followed the steps, and I got nothing. I linked the two things and turned the key to On, but the door locks didn't cycle or anything. Could there be a different issue than just the remote? I'm sure I did the directions right, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

My dealer programmed my fob for free. Only takes 2 minutes. Remote was $29 + tax.
