Default New front struts... recommendations...?

OK, well, after a new pair of rear shocks - I am now told I need a new pair of front struts (along with a new left front axle shaft, and new left and right lower control arms).

The guy installing everything (a shop mechanic that does side work out of his home garage) says I need to get quick struts (much easier for him, etc.)

Any recommendations?

I'd get the same manufacturer of struts as the rear struts.

Unfortunately Monroe (I put the Monroe 90007C shocks on the rear) doesn't make a quick strut for the 2000-2005 Bonneville...

Ah then I'd go with KYB unless you have a different preference.

Looking for a more "smooth" ride than a sporty one.

Will KYB give me that...?

Every quick strut I find says that it raises the car by at least 1+" (some more) above factory.

Anyone know of any quick struts that don't raise your car'* height...? And offers a "smooth" ride...?

Not sure how the KYBs would feel. I'll probably know in a few months because my LeSabre is due for another set.

The main reason I reuse the springs is to avoid changing the spring rate and ride height. Depending on who makes the springs and what spec they use I might end up being a victim of production efficiency. Almost all the struts listed anywhere are the same part number for a LeSabre and a Bonneville, including preloaded struts.

. . . because the current ones have almost 100,000 miles on them, were (without my immediate knowledge) the low-grade choice from Napa, and have been through more severe use than all the other 1997 LeSabres. I felt I should clarify that these aren't a set of KYBs that went bad quickly or anything like that.

While I'm here, the factory set was worn out at about 140,000 miles, but still didn't feel as bad as the current ones do right now at less than 100,000 miles.

The only "name" brand quick struts I have found for the Bonneville are the KYB and Gabriel. I guess Monroe no longer makes a quick strut for the car and Sachs lists noting.

There are other "no-name" brands that I have found like - Unity, GSP...

So looks like either the KYB or Gabriel - if I can deal with the added height and firmer ride - or spend three times as much to have just the regular struts put in at the shop.

I really wish there was an edit button on here so you could edit your posts.

It looks like the KYB doesn't fit - the KYB site says it does - but all of the other purchase sites say it doesn't.

So, looks like it'* just the Gabriel for a quick strut.
