i changed the plugs and wires today and while removing the boot from the box with the **** coming out. (not the end with the spark plugs) one of the silver **** was all rusted and black. i scraped until i saw silver again and put the boot on. car runs fine, but my question is will this effect the car in any way? will it ruin the wire or the boot sooner than others? can i replace the silver ****? any help would be greatly appreciated.!!
I don't see how it could damage anything, just be sure its fully cleaned, and make sure the boot is clean on the inside also, and if looks questionable, just get a new set. No, you can't just replace them, you would have to replace the entire Coil[*].

The rust and black carbon would indicate you had a miss and replacing the wires was a good call. I cleaned mine up with steel wool till they were shinny and have had no problems in the last year.

so there should be no reason to have to replace the coil pack? as for the dielectric grease, do i just put it on the posts and plugs or directly in the boots of the wires? thanks again for the input so far.
