Default mysterious ticking noise....

ok, i said i was gonna make a post aboot this after further listening. theres this ticking noise when i first start to accelerate. it goes away(or gets drowned out, dont know which at this point) when i "get on it" more. Boosty suggested it might be a CV joint, but i can hear it when i have the cruise control set on the hwy driving strait(next to a barrier, so i can hear it). also, today when i started my car, it was ticking some then too. just sitting there at idle(or slightly higher cuz i just started it). I did not notice this until i put on the FWI either(probly because it doesnt "quiet" engine noise like the cumbersome stock airbox does). BTW: car runs good. it may be nothing, but im paranoid i guess. :?

I got that same sound. was just gonna post on it. and I just put a CAI on also. Is there an inherent tick(spinning tick with rpms on accel, like a little kids popper bubble stick wheel push thing, but very faint tick) from the supercharger? Or are my snout bearings going out? Just saw a couple of kits on some sites. Lifter tick? I only have 90,000 just changed oil.

Have you checked for a leak at the exhaust manifold or downpipe gasket?

i was thinking it may be an exaust leak or cat is starting to go bad(bad kittah! )i just started it and the ticking was quicker in tempo. :? it still isnt affecting performance, or throwing a code. so for now ill keep an eye out for exaust leaks, etc. thanks for the responses.

i had your issue, it eventually got nice and loud that you could hear it from far away. neighbors appreciated that. check your cat converter. that solved my issue.

mine didnt start this until after i put on the fwi and poolie. i think the extra exaust flow may have helped foul up the cat or made a leak worse. it definitely is around where the cat is.

Didnt know you had a pulley... I say that found a week spot in the exhaust with the added pressure.
