Default More Stabilitrak issues...

Hmm...was driving around town yesterday with a buddy who is interested in a GTP. We hit a couple of the dealerships and then when pulling out of the last one I made a turn onto the street and started to accelerate. To my complete amazement the car decided to start braking at about 20mph and i got a Stability System Active message in the DIC. Well, I thought that was pretty crazy so I pulled into a nearby parking lot and started doing some testing. Every time i got above 15 mph the car applied the brakes gave me the message in the DIC and laughed at me.

I called Jeff at INTENSE and he was awesome enough to drive 15 minutes to where I was with his Tech 2 and scan the system. What we got was LR and RR Wheel Speed Sensors showing 0 mph. The car thought the front wheels were going 20 and the back wheels were standing still even though they werent. Our best guess was a faulty wire from the rear wheels to the computer up front. I popped out the ABS fuse which disabled the system and drove it the pontiac dealership to have it checked out under warranty.

They called today and said they couldnt find anything wrong with the car. They said they started it up drove it for 7 miles (after putting the fuse back in) and all was fine. I ended up paying for the 75 dollar diagnostic and now im left with the impending dread that the car might decide to pull this again maybe when im on the highway at 75 mph or something. I picked up the car and it all does seem to be back in order but i'm still a little leary.

Anyways, just thought I would share.

Maybe you should have tried pulling the fuse then replacing it to see if it reset something? Kinda wierd though after you had troubles this winter with the front sensor now the rear?

We did pull the fuse all 3 of them. The master in the front and the 2 under the rear seat. Didnt seem to help. Jeff was going to clear the codes with the Tech 2 but i wanted the dealer to see them so he left them in. The dealer said they cleared them but didnt notice any problems with the car.

You know, it never did throw an SES just logged codes in the computer. We did some quick checking at the wheels but didnt spend a whole lot of time on it because I figured the dealer would get it....bad assumption. When it gets warm enough to lay on the concrete I may take a close look at it....

Default stability system

Just wanted to let anyone know if there worst fear is driving down the interstate and the brakes come on, it happened to me. So I took it to the dealership, and the answer was oh mam you have too much pressure in one tire and not enough in another. O.K. I'm not a complete dummy I didn't buy it. I decided to try it, about 1/4 of a mile down the road I hear ding ding, check tire pressure. So I turned around and went right back. The manager told me oh we forgot to clear the codes. So i wait ,30 minutes later he still cant figure out how to clear the codes, so i show him how. Finally I 'm off again. About a mile down the road I hear ding ding, service stability system! I return to the dealership. Needless to say they still have the car and I'm stuck in a granny car wondering if they'll ever figure it out. The dealership called gm and told them the problem gm'* answer was just tell her to turn the traction controll system off if she'* afraid to drive the car. My answer was I shouldn't have to worry about going 77 down the interstate only to find my brakes on . When you pay for something it should work. I'll keep you posted on the verdit. Until then I'll be in the granny car.

Wow, timnkyla that really sucks. I have a 2003 SSEI and know if I had a "new" car like we do (and pay out the a..... for) I would be REALLY unhappy with GM. It also sounds your local GM dealership is fill of idiots. Makes me wanna by a GM product again .

Turning off the tractio control, does not turn off the traction control on our cars. I just delays it. I generally do NOT drive with mine on and it wasnt on when I had my issues.

Default stabilitrack

Great news guys, finally! A week has passed and the dealership has finally called to say my car is ready. My husband picked it up and so far no problems or codes have come up. The service department said the culprit was a steering sensor. We'll see how right they are. I 'll keep you posted if anything comes up.
