Automatic Climate Control... Not working properly or is it?
Ok so ever since I have owned this car, the climate control does not seem to work like I am used to having automatic climate controls work. In my old car ('94 Intrepid), I would never move the temperature setting off of 72*F even in the dead of winter. The car would always warm up properly and the temperature would always stay perfectly comfortable.
This is the first VERY cold weather that I have driven in and the temperature was never right inside the car. I could manually turn the fan up and set the mode, but when I would turn it to AUTO, it would drop down to the floor and drop the fan down to a lower setting. The floor would be plenty warm enough, but up near the windsheild, it would be freezing. This is all with the temperature set at 85*F (which is way hotter than I ever had to set the Intrepid). If I manually select the mode and fan, I can make it comfortable until it gets too hot. Another thing that I noticed this summer is that I would have to drive around with the temperature set at 80*F just to be comfortable (not too cold).
I don't think this is a heating issue, but an all around climate control issue. I assume that there is a way to calibrate the sensors and could a miscalibration be causing these symptoms? I know where the cabin air temperature sensor is, but I don't know if this is an issue with that or if it is something that I should just let the dealership handle. I have some other things that I would like the dealership to take a look at, but I figured if this was something simple I'd try it myself.
Let me know, TIA.

Both of our 2000'* are like that too. I always have the Riv set at 73* and it'* just perfect.. in the Bonnevilles 73 is FREEZING! It'* not even comftorable in there until it'* atleast at 79-80*. Also, on floor/defrost you can feel a cool breeze blowing on you from somewhere not sure where though. I just find it really odd that it takes teh bonneville set at 80 degrees to be the same temperature inside the car as the Riviera set at 72 or so degrees.

The auto climate control in this car is CRAP. Always was, always shall be. It only works well in the summer to keep things cool.
In the cool and rain, the window will alway fog up unless I put it into defrost mode manually.
I have to use mine manually in Auto mode....if that makes any sense. :?

Its funny that you said you had an intrepid and that it was a 94. I also had a intrepid just to let you know and moved on to the bonneville. but yeah i was just thinking about this, 72-74 was where i would have had it in the intrepid to keep it comfortable but now since i got the bonnie, i usually have it on 83. Weird i guess... just got the car 3 weeks ago. still gettin use to things
