Default Mid-throttle hesitation

Problem: When going from a stop the car pulls good and the engine feels fine and when going WOT the car feels fine, but if i am cruising at say 35 MPH at around 2-2.5k RPM and try to accelerate their is a hesitation and if im in the left lane next to a median i can hear what sounds like a misfire/chugging.

So far i have tested the coil packs, the primaries all read 0.4ohms and the secondaries read 6.13, 6.23 and 6.22. I have checked the primary coils once and the secondaries 3 times at varying temperatures and their always within 0.1 of each other on my multimeter. I also cleaned up the ground under the backseat and applied some dielectric grease to the bolt and the problem persists. I have checked my plug wires at night for arcing and haven't seen anything, i read that you are to mist them with water and this makes the arcing more obvious if it is there?

Any other ideas of what can be causing this misfire? i was really hoping it would be the coils and i could be done with this.

Did you check to be sure that the #6 plug wire is away from the O2 sensor?

it'* about one inch away, definitely not touching, i'll try and re route it tomorrow so it'* farther away. The plugs have less than 5k on them and the wires have less than 3k probably. How far should the #6 wire be from the 02 sensor wire?

How are your battery cables? Maybe that'* just a pre-2000 problem since your battery is under the back seat.

Did I read that a problem coil may not be obvious until it'* checked when hot?

I checked my cables and cleaned up the connections with a wire brush. I'm going to check the coils again after driving home from work tomorrow. I really wish it was the coils then i could replace them and be on my way,

Do your scans at those times show any KR? It'* possible you are seeing and hearing KR.

I haven't seen KR in a couple of months since i put the PEM'* on. I have all the mods in my signature and still using a stock pulley. I checked my coils again today right when i pulled in the garage and got 6.01, 6.01 and 6.00 on the secondary coils and again got 0.4 on the primaries except for the 3/6 coil where the resistance bounced around between .2 and .5. can this be indication of something wrong? I'm going to move the #6 wire as far from the 02 wire as i can and see if that helps, it is within about 1/2 an inch of the 02 sensor actually.

i really wouldn't think it was KR because it never happens except when i go to accelerate from a cruising speed. if i go from a 5 mph roll say, i can ease all the way to WOT over a couple seconds (as to not lose traction) and get no hesitation or any KR whatsoever. Could this be a fuel issue? i have 60,000 miles on what i am assuming is the original filter.

If you're certain that you had a good connection while measure the primaries, the reading should be steady. You could have some shorted windings that show up only under hot conditions.

I used spade connectors hooked up to the probes for my multimeter like it shows in the techinfo article. When the spades are touched together they have a reading of 0.00 ohms and i checked this before and after checking each coil to make sure my readings weren't being affected by the extensions. I moved the 6 wire as far away as it could go and also rerouted the 02 sensor harness a bit and it seems to have smoothed out my idle somewhat and also alleviated some of my problem but not completely and it may just be in my head.

So the varying reading on the 3/6 primary can be indicative of a short? I'll drive it longer tomorrow and then check to see if this continues.

Sometimes, the insulation on the wires inside can start to break down, and when heated and things expand, a couple of adjacent wires can short together intermittently. That could explain the erratic readings.
