Default Low Speed Prob

My car was running really well after the spark plugs and wires.

I drove about 40 miles @ 50 mph and came to a small town and set my cruise control to 25 for about 3 miles. All of sudden the car stalled and when I restarted it I had to really stay on the gas to keep it from stalling again. I ran it really hard and it seemed to run fine again, but the chk engine light is now on. On my way back home during low speed light throttle driving it wanted to sputter and stall under light acceleration. It smelled like rotton eggs. thnks any opinions

From what I know, the rotten egg smell is from the catalytic converter. Sounds like maybe yours is clogged up...?

Did you change the plugs and wires in an attempt to solve any particular problem, or just preventive maintenance?

Your mass airflow sensor (MAF) might be going out. Just guessing though. :?

First rule on fixing any car is asking the "was anything done recently?" question.

Being that the answer is yes, check over all the areas you worked in. Possibly bumped the O2 wire. Ensure your wires are not touching the O2 wiring, that will give you running issues. This does sound bigger than simply an O2, but if the car ran fine before and no there are problems.. look in the areas where you worked.

From what I have seen happen on an LS1 F-body - my first thing to look at would be the 02 sensor wiring as it may have be burned through and grounding out somewhere. As mentioned above, an issue with the MAF can cause similar issues.

If at all possible, have the car scanned to get exactly what codes are being thrown and that should really narrow down the problem. I don't know if you have an AutoZone where you live or not - but I know that in our area they will scan your car for FREE. Good luck!

For some reason...I had it in my head that cruise control shouldn't be used for speeds less than 40mphl....I'm not sure if that contributed to this issues at all...I'm not even sure if that tidbit is true or makes sense...

Not so much that it shouldn't work, just that it doesn't work at under 35 mph. Or somewhere around there.....
