Default A loud noise... sounds like death if it had a sound

Hey guys, it has been a few weeks since I have heard this noise, but it'* strange... actually probably a really simple explaination...

It only happens when my car drives though a big puddle (such as one at a corner that the water has collected during a storm).

The only thing I can figure is that water is bouncing up into the engine compartment and making the noise...

It'* hard to explain, but it kind of reminds me of a belt rubbing, only last a few seconds, and then it goes to a higher pitch then stops. I checked all my belts and the still look brand new.

any ideas of how to service this?

Stop driving through large puddle?

Ok...seriously.. would you call it a belt squeal? If so.it'* possible that the belt is getting wet and slipping.

It is possible that the tensioner is out of spec or the belt has stretched to a point that the tensioner can no longer be effective.

this is a huge common occurring "problem" the 2000+ bonnies, the belts tend to slip alot when they get wet, you could try replacing the belt and the tensioner, but in my opinion is not worth the hassle to change the tensioner, just toss a new belt on and see if it fixes it up
