Loose front end?

Loose front end?

I hear and feel, through my '00 steering wheel, a slight clunk when I accelerate or stop abruptly. The clunk is more noticable when moving slightly and I tap the the brakes to a stop. Does anyone have any ideas what the clunk is?

Yes, the steering shaft from column to rack has a binding problem. GM has issued a service bullitin to remove the shaft, they provide a grease kit to lube up the steering shaft. re-install shaft and the problem is gone.
