Hi Guys,
My tranny is doing fine. No problems since the rebuild. However, I have a new problem that I believe I know the cause but am looking for some help confirming that this is indeed the problem. For about the last week, I have creaking noise that occurs when the steering wheel is turned. I believe that the intermediate shaft is in need of grease but I am not 100% sure. Let me know if I am pointed in the right direction or if you guys feel that something else is happening. Thanks.

Hey Guys,
I just took the car to autozone and they looked it over and determined that the strut bearing is the cause of the creaking. How hard is it to replace this bearing and what tools are needed to complete the job? I have most of the basic tools, but not any specialty automotive tools (e.g., spring compressor, etc.). Thanks for the assistance!

9 times out of 10 if the strut mount is bad then your strut usually is too. already tried just replacing the mount on mine 6 months later back to the same thing. ended up just getting new struts.
Either way to replace the strut mount or the whole thing (unless you are using pre-assembled quick struts) you will need a air compressor, impact gun, 15/16 socket, hammer, 15mm socket for top 3bolts, 10mm socket for the two bolts holding the lines on the bottom of the strut, spring compressor, jack and jack stands.

Open the hood. Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you listen near the top of the McPherson Strut. If you hear a creaking and/or snapping sound, then there is a good chance that the strut bearing/mount is bad.
