Lock up torque converter problems.
I just bought a 2001 SEI. I cannot get the Lock up torque converter to activate. Usually kiks in at 45 mpg.
The problem is that I am driving at 50 mph and the rpm is at 2000.
Please provide any advice.

Please post mechanical problems in the proper section, not in General Chat. Read the Forum Descriptions for further help in deciding where to post.
I'll move this to the right section for you.

Thanks for trying to help.
I just bough the car, but according to the provious owner record, it seems like it was changed in 2005 (25000 miles ago)
The oil looks fine but I noticed that it had about 1/2 quart over the limit (I have removed it already but problem persist).

The car never go on lock.
The check engine light was on when I got it, but is was due to a defective Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve (EGR vavle). The valve was replaced and the light when off.
The temperature seems pretty normal to me.

If the TCC is commanded to lock up by the PCM and it doesn't, you'll get a light.
My gut tells me you're not getting the command to lockup for some reason. My questions would be with regards to what the PCM is seeing for load (TPS) and gear selected at this point.
Do you have access to a scantool?

I unfortunately hace no acces to a scann tool at this time, but I took it to a shop on Friday P.M. they charged me $45 just to plug in the analyzer. The analyzer is showing that everything is just fine.

I suspect your OD lockup is fine, and your tach is off. Unfortunately, there'* no way to know unless you scan the actual engine rpm'* while driving.
EASE up on 48-50mph while you watch the tach (in 3rd gear). Do you see the rpm'* drop at 48-50? Even a little?
