Can one of you give me the location of the oil psi sending unit? All of a sudden my gauge is maxed out and I dont believe I have excess psi. I pull the dipstick after shutting off the car and no excess psi. It use to run about 40psi.

It is right above the oil filter.

Yep, right above the oil filter. Just unplug it, remove the old one with a box end wrench. Some oil will come out, so have a catch pan. Then put the new on back in and plug it in, your done.

Easy way to get at it is to jack and support the front passenger side of the car. Remove the tire and the splash shield that keeps you from seeing the back of the motor.

Here'* a picture of the sender. Nice thing about the 2000+ cars is GM used a regular hex head for the sender. Previous years it was a special socket to remove it. (pliers worked great). This picture is of a Regal drivetrain, your oil filter adapter will curl under the motor instead of sticking out to the right like this one. Sensor in the center of the picture is the one you want.

Thanks guys! It(sender) appears to be leaking and its hooked up. Thing is I just changed oil and filter and then noticed it(oil psi pegged) but it could have been doing it before. It could be a bad filter? I checked and pulled the dipstick right after shutting down the engine and no excess pressure. I may take the filter off this weekend and put another one one. I am not an electrical kind of guy or have an ohm meter to test it.

Changed my oil pressure sender today and the pressure is now 40lbs. instead of 120lbs.
Took about 1 hour and was a piece of cake..
Thanks to the member who took the trouble to take a picture of the Buick Regal unit and
like the post mentioned the oil filter is angled towards the center of the car.
