Default knock question

I just installed a 3.4 pulley still using the stock belt. I am seeing around 9.5lbs of boost. Hopefully the correct size belt will give me a little more boost. Anyways the problem I am having is when I go WOT around 5000rpms it sounds like I get denonation. The car was only at about 150 degrees. I still need to install the 180 stat which I will do tonight. Also, I did install a CAI. and removed the MAF screen. Will it just take the computer time to learn the new enviroment?

Any help will be appreciated,
Jason

Unless your getting belt slippage you gain boost with a new belt. I wouldnt think you would get detonation with a 3.4" , are you running high octane gas? If you are then drop the heat range of your plugs and you should be fine.

Last weekend I put on a 3.3" with the stock belt and plugs and have no slippage or detonation, I run 94 octane fuel.

I ran for quite a while with the stock belt when I switched to a 3.4" pulley. My stock gauge never went over 9.5 lbs. When I switched to one size smaller belt, I didn't notice any difference except the tensioner wasn't right at the end of its travel like with the stock belt. Only under certain weather conditions, cold and wet, will it read 10 psi.
I don't trust the stock gauge. It'* quite possible that it'* off by 1 psi. :?

Don't worry about it.
I always run 94 octane.

I expect now with the opened up exhaust to make about 2 psi less than before but it will make more power and allow me to probably go to a 3.25" pulley to get back up to 10 psi.

When I was talking with zoomer he said I could run 3.1" with headers and rockers. 3.3" with headers only. I'm going to need a new belt no doubt but for now I'm not going anywhere its still too cold out

That'* good to know. I'm planning the rockers for next fall. I'll wait before I switch pulleys. I am using the press on type since I already have the puller tool.

It snowed last night. About 4". It was gone by noon and the roads and sidewalks were dry again by dinner. Gotta love the coast.
