Well I broke my idler pulley'* bolt head (hexhead) off of the bolt. it'* the grooved idler pulley (#8 in the photo). it'* definately a bastard thread (reverse thread). Does anyone know where to find this bolt?

You might have to go to a bone yard or the dealer. You might try a big box hardware store and see if they have reverse threaded bolt. You don't need to replace with a hex head..which IMO are a pain in the a$$.

Yea i was afraid of that, i've hear that the bolt from the tensioner pulley is the same size and reverse thread as well, but a normal MM head. I'll have to check the yards. Thanks.

I just broke the bolt off # 8 pulley also. I read someplace that the bolt tightens in the direction of the
pulley turns but that wasn't true for me when I was reefing on the bolt thinking it was a forward theaded bolt because the #8 turns CW. Oh well now I suppose I'll have to take it into the shop to the have the snapped off bolt removed and re-threaded .

i ordered a new tensioner pulley bolt w/ a 15mm head on it from NAPA, supposedly it'* the same reverse thread nut... i'll let you know after i pick it up tomorrow.... once i get a ride that is, doin brake work as well so can't drive haha.

I typically replace that hex head nightmare with a standard tensioner bolt. Both are reverse thread,.. why they'd put something like that there is beyond me. Seems like it may at one time have been for added clearance, when trying to take it out though, it is worse than a normal headed bolt.

Is there any easy way of removing the snapped off Bolt? It looks like I might be able to get a drill in the opposite end (in front of the radiator) and drill out the old bolt. Any thoughts wouls be appreciated!

Best way is remove the tensioner assembly from the motor. Then have it on a bench or vice where you can work on it properly. Otherwise, I fear it'll go bad.

I was lucky enough to have the head snap off the bolt and not the bolt itself break, so i just took off my belt and pulley. the pulley came off easy since there was no bolt head holding it on anymore. Then i used some channel locks to remove the bolt since some of the bolt shaft was exposed that i could grip onto.

Also i FOUND A BOLT that fits for this application but with a 15mm head instead of hex. It'* located at NAPA.

Tensioner Bolt - Serpentine Belt

the part # for napa is 600-1151 and it'* called a "belt tensioner bolt kit". costs about 8 bucks.... ignore the "hat washer" is comes off and is worthless if you have your original washer still.

That bolt will be just fine. Lots of members change the torx bolt for a standard bolt head.
