Default Hood swap

Looking to replace the hood on my 2001 Bonny. A few members of this forum have helped located a hood, problem is it is 600 miles away.

Wondering if it is feasible to swap the hood properly at the destination of the hood/ how difficult is it to swap a hood?

It'* not hard to do with two people. I've done it several times. There'* 2 bolts on each hinge. Snug them up and close the hood. Look at the alignment. Front to back, and side to side, as well as making sure it'* straight to the fender. Once it'* all straight, tighten the bolts down and check for close. If you need to slam it hard, check the stops. If it'* up to high, lower the stops. Takes about 20 minutes or so. The biggest problem will be, what do you do with your old hood. There'* no place on the car where you can bring it back. So that means leaving it there, driving there with no hood, or picking it up with a truck.

The first owner of my car ruined the paint with a car bra, so a new hood is somewhere on my list of things to do.

Thanks for the info, Dan. I figured as much, but it'* good to have real directions.

In Minnesota. The seller told me it would need to be repainted, so with 1200 miles round trip it is cheaper to buy a new fiberglass hood.

To align a hood that'* been on a car before, line up the old hinge marks. That gets you very close, then do the hood close thing.

92-99 On the hood supports, pry the clips open a little to slide them off the nipple on the hood. Be gentle, too far and they snap.

2000+ On the hood support. Use a small screwdriver to pull the clips back a bit. No need to take them off. That makes things harder. Just pull them back til the support will pull off the ball. Then push the clip back and it'll go back in place and hold when you get the new hood on.
