Default 04 SE tough steering

I've been having some trouble with the steering at low speeds. Often, turning in a parking lot is a chore, as if it had no power steering. Likewise, it often feels like that when you have slowed down to turn a corner. This has become more noticeable to me since having broken my elbow. My temporary solution is to push both the gas and brake at the same time to give the engine a few more rpm'* and it eases up the steering. I can't say that I've noticed a leak as there is never anything on the ground. My father'* old Dodge pickup had a power steering leak and looked like it was having its period based on their driveway stains. My guess is the pump is going. I've also read about speed sensitive steering- maybe that? Anything I could do to diagnose further? Thanks

Check the fluid level first. If that'* good then check the belt. Is it worn or loose? If so, replace it.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was with your steering? I am having the same problems as you discribed here. My fluid is full and the belt seems ok?

If it'* only when moving slow, it could be your RPM is a bit slow. I get the same thing from time to time in my Montana. Makes me think there'* a low speed cut out. Just a little more RPM and it'* fine.
