Well, I ordered the L and R GXP Strut Tower brackets for my 00 SSEi, ($19.95 each). I chose not to order the center bar, ($89.00), as since the bar would have to be altered anyway to clear the alternator, I would just save a boat-load of money and make one myself with a nice offset for the alt. My questions are,
1) What is the gauge or wall thickness of the steel tubing?
2)What is the overall diameter of the tube?
Anyone with a bar have a caliper that they could take some measurements for me?

I know 2000SIlverBullet has one and he'* pretty handy with a measuring stick

If I can find a caliper tonight I can measure mine up, I just got all the parts from GMPD yesterday.

umm, i have a 2003 SSEi and didnt have to do any modification to the strut tower bar to get it to clear the alt.

you have to bend both brackets, not the bar

I never modified mine either , just install the way it is.There isnt alot of room but enough.

I couldn't find a caliper but with a ruler I measured the bar to be 1 1/8" thick. The ends of the bar are filled in but it appears that the wall thickness is about 1/8".

Thanks lglarum. The brackets are also 1/8" thick so that makes sence. What did you pay for the bar through GMPD? The bar is hollow correct? The ends are just capped? Also, I noticed that the bar bolt holes in the bracket seem oversized. The holes opposite the welded on nuts are 10.9mm but the bolts are just 7.8mm thick. This just looks like it could allow too much flex.

What was the total cost? Well had I bought all 3 pieces from the dealer, it would have been $130.00 delivered to the dealership.

Cost was around 140 delivered.

It was easy to tweak the bracket and stop the ALT from hitting it. I clamped the PS bracket between 2 landscaping timbers and gave the entire assembly a little pull while standing on the timbers. The bracket bent enough to stop the rubbing.
