gutted the air box on my Riv but I did not notice any difference in how loud the engine was, but I did notice the acceleration was smoother. Maybe I need to do some more gutting. The riv only pulls in air from the driver'* side fender with a small hole about 2x3" in the air box.. should I make this larger? Is it bad to make it a lot bigger?
Bigger the better.

I gutted the air box over the weekend and I can hear the whine of the supercharger. It sounds great to me. Throttle response seems to be better and it is easier to break the tires loose. The wife has not noticed any difference, but she drives like an old lady. What will Mr. Goodwrench say about the gutted airbox if I need warranty work?

Mr. Goodwrench probably won't know if you don't tell him. Change your own air filter.

Mr.Goodwrench usually doesn't care depending on who your dealer is. Some dealers don't care at all and even if your car is highly modded and runs 11'* they will still replace trannies and stuff, and some refuse to work on the car. Unless the problem you have is with the air intake there shouldn't be any problems. Like for instance, if your seat heater quits, it doesn't have anything to do with the gutted airbox, so they have to fix it. We had to bring the GTP into the dealer for a problem we thought we had, but before they started working on it we figured out that the problem was simply a vacuum line that was disconnected luckily, but they had no problem with the mods that we had because the problem had to do with the fuel pump (we thought), and they know the mods didn't cause that, so they were going to work on it under warranty. Now if the tranny went, it would be another story.
