Exclamation Got a good one this morning

well the engine light came on this morning took it to autozone got it scanned and it came back P0742 lucky me car was bucking all over the place and would lose power at the most inopertune times so here are the causes and definition for the code

P0742

TCC stuck on
Definition TCC commanded off by the ECM- TCC slip detected after off command

probable cause:
1.) TCC solenoid failure
2.)open or short circuit condition
3.)blocked passage in transmission
4.)check transmission range switch for proper operation

any ideas on how easy to do any of this is

Yeah. I would not drive the car any more then you absolutely must with that malfunctioning. As I recall the side pan had to come off to access it. A friend of mine had his done for around $250 by a local trans shop.

Lucky you. Changing the solenoid is about as easy as it comes, unplug, pull a small clip with a pliers, remove solenoid, put new one in, replace clip, and plug in. Done. However. You can't get to it with the trans in the car, go figure.

Man that sucks...easy part to replace, but you got to drop the tranny or raise the car from the tranny to get to it. Good things it'* covered under warranty Saw!
