Is there anyway of telling what gear ratio a person has in their car?
I know that the SE models have a lower ratio than the SLE'* and GXP'*. BNut i read in the options package that if you upgraded the SE with the Leather Package that it also upgraded the gear ratio.

Take a look at your RPO sticker on the spare tire cover in your trunk and translate it via Techinfo RPO codes. The ratio will be right there.

SEs have 2.86 ratio, with an optional 3.06, which is standard on SLEs

FQ3 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.86
FR2 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.93
FW2 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 3.06
F17 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.84
F79 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 2.97
F83 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 3.05
GX3 - ratio, transaxle, final drive 3.33


above is all the RPO'* for the 4t60 and the 4t65

Just checked mine out. Yup i got the 2.86 gear ratio. I'll haveta check out the Impala LS and My son'* GP GT. I'll bet they have the higher ratio
