My DIC told me yesterday to check my gas-cap. Now mind you, I haven't gotten gas in 4 days. Well anywho so I check it, and press reset. I parked the car for about 2 hours, got in and "ding ding ding"....check gas cap.

So am I to assume I need a new gas cap?

Unfortunately, it is seldom the gas cap. Before buying one, clean any rust from the seal on the car under the cap, and any build up on the gasket on the cap. See if that helps. I chased that around on a friend'* 2000 for some time. Cleaning the vent solenoid, located under the car by the rear wheel, solved the problem.

It could also be the purge solenoid on the back part of the engine, or any of the hoses connecting the those solenoids to the evap cannister.

does anyone have a pic of the vent solenoid that is soposedly located under the rear pasenger seat. thanks

and also, could the solenoid also throw a "service stability system" warning

Not at all. The SSS is typically thrown from a bad wheel speed sensor (wheel bearing)/ a connection at the wheel to the speed sensor or the steering wheel position sensor.

If you have trouble finding it, try following the evap line from the cannister (a rectangular gray or black box under the car under the back seat) back to the vent near the rear tire.

The steering position sensor has been the more common cause of the stability system notice, with one of the wheel speed sensors being the second. A scan at the dealer, or shop that has the proper scanner, will tell where the problem is located.
