Default Front end shutter for no apparent reason?

My 2000 SSEi had the intermidiate shaft replaced about 40,000 miles ago. I have now developed a problem while rolling down the road in a straight line, and it does not seem to be speed dependant. It comes and goes, and is becomming more prevelant. For no apparent reason, the front end starts to shake somewhere in the streering system. There is little or no vibration in the steering wheel itself.
This is not the same symptom I had when the intermidiate shaft was bad. Any ideas out there?
