If you're starting to lose coolant, and the engine is misfiring as a result, you could do serious damage to your engine if you keep driving it. It sounds as if the coolant is getting into your cylinders. Any white smoke coming out the exhaust? What does the oil look like. Here'* the recommendation given to another...and yes. we're talking the LIM (lower intake manifold) gasket.

Beg, borrow, or steal another car if you can.

Brian, I'll second Archon'* recommendation there.

Note that the thread he linked applies to someone without a supercharger though, so your focus will only be on the coolant elbow and the LIM gasket. The gasket can be purchased from your local Pontiac or GM dealer for just less than $60 US and the coolant elbow can be bought there too or at a local parts store in the HELP! section.

Do yourself a favor and read the TECHINFO article regarding this fix:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=38

Note that the article is written for the Upper Intake Manifold Failure, but it includes all the important information for the LIM gasket replacement too, including part nembers, etc. You want to get the new aluminum-framed replacement gasket.

Brian... I'm on the same garbage barge as the other guys here. It does appear your lower intake manifold gaskets have let go.

What is happening is you are losing coolant into the motor and on top. The top isn't as bad as into the motor. Water is tough to burn.

Car goes in tomorrow morning. Thanks to all for your responses. I trust the purple stars more than my mechanic so I'll make sure he addresses the lim issue for certain! I guess we can add another 2000+ lim failure to the list! I'll be sure to let him know the newer part numbers for the GM gaskets. Thanks everyone, I hope I caught this in time before too much damage occured.

Only problem now is my Christmas shopping has to go on hold now!

Ya I've been using the excuse all day why I "Have to" drive her GTP now that the bonnie is sick! Hope the 240hp 3.9L doesn't share the same LIM gasket woes, although this puppy is under warranty for 4 years/50,000 miles anyways!

Kinda getting use to that car now!

It will have the same issues as long as you run DEXcool in it.

Unless it already has aluminum-framed LIM gaskets.

Well getting the car back tomorrow. My little Soltice was fun while it lasted but I'll be glad to have my Bonnie back! LIM gasket was cracked around port #6, miss fire was cylinder 6 as well. The o-ring in the supercharger was also allowing coolant into cylinder #6. Instead of it being round it was heart shaped. Wonder what caused this?? Running a 180 stat with the 3.4 pulley? Everything else seemed Ok, oil gets changed and coolant flushed tomorrow, then she'* back on the road!
