Default engine not runing right

Hello all again, my problem this time is that when I start the car it seems to be miss firing from the sound of the muffler it does not seem to be puring like it should be or like my grand prix gt does.

It sounds this way alot on start up like it is not getting all the power it needs and I really notice it when I rev it up and listen to the sound of the muffler, like its not responding like it should.

So far I have replaced the plugs and wires with ac delco parts, changed the pcv and the gas filter in it and I have also changed the o2 sensor as well.I tried to run a couple of bottles of chevron fuel treatment through it to,I have checked all the vacum lines and all deem to be in good order.

The next thing I can only think of checking is the coil packs,I havent removed them yet but the tips look good,I also forgot to mention I cleaned the tb too.Any suggestions would be great!Would taking it to a shop and letting them do a injection cleaning possibly help?

My car-2000 ssei with 114000 miles on it.

You could try a top engine clean like seafoam. Cleans all the carbon and varnish out of your engine. It can help with rough idle too.
Here'* a thread on it http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=17556

uh oh. :( I hope it isn't this, but you could have the dreaded upper/lower intake issue. This would allow coolant into the cylinders and act just like bad gas, a miss what have you. It will run, but not run so good. It did it to me. Tell tale signs. whitish exhaust, coolant needs to be topped off but you can't find any leaks on the garage floor. Please search the forum for UIM or upper or lower intake and also the techinfo section has an excellent write up on it for the info. I hope it doesn't prove out and we can find something else.

Coolent level hasnt changed level since I have owned the car for 6 months.I regularly check all coolent levels and the coolent level is the same as when I bought the car.I am wondering if the little T vacume line under the sc is leaking a bit because when I checked the lines the T under the */c seemed to be a bit to loose so I am going to try and purchase one tomarrow.

The next thing I am going to check is the egr valve I have a spare one in my tool box that came off of my 98 gtp and I am sure they are the same and yes the egr valve I have in my box is good.Next, would my tps cause it not to run smooth on reving it up on idle?I have often wondered why it does not kick down quite as well as my gtp did or as good as my gp gt does?Could it be a clogged cat???Maybe a clogged injector that is why I asked maybe to take to a shop and have them hook up there pressure cleaner for the injectors?God so many if'*!!!!Thanx guys for the help!

Another quick and easy thing to do instead of just checking the coils is to swap them between the SSEi and GT.

Tracy, the SSEi'* don't have the plastic UIM. Lower gaskets CAN become an issue, but only after many miles.

Check the techinfo procedure for testing the coil packs. Check connections to all the sensors etc.

I assume you do not have a check engine light? A scan would still be good to see if there are any pending codes.

O.K., I changed the egr valve and replaced the T connection vacume and she seems to be puring better now I noticed a jerking feeling going up hills on load so I was thinking maybe my tc clutch but I noticed the surging after starting it up after going into the store for a bit too so i doubt its the tc clutch or maybe a combo of probs,I scaned it and no pending codes......hmmmm wtf is goin on here with this ssei I was reading through the posts and seems to be a common problem with the surging going up hills on light load.I forgot to mention that the rpm was surging in idle to after coming out of the store today to.Its like the car is trying to die but doesnt,It was doing this before but after I changed out the o2 sensor the surging went away after start up but now its back both in idle and going up hills around 55 mph.any help would be great!

bearsfan, I know you said you checked all your vacuum lines, but did you make sure to check out the ones at your evap cannister? Those are common culprits and we've had more than one person who found a loose one or cracked one there.
