The power mirror on my drivers side 2000 SSEi will only adjust left to right. The up and down function doesn't work yet the motor still sounds like it'* working. Is there an easy fix without taking the whole mirror off or is this a tedious job? Any help would be appreciated!

Add your year and trim to your signature. It'll help alot in the future.

Taking the mirror off isn't that tough on the 92-99, and yours should be similar. Remove the trim on the inside of the door above the window line, you should see the connector and two screws or nuts. Maybe 3. You might be able to deflect the mirror far enough to look inside and see what'* wrong, but typically mirrors aren't repairable. Most replace.
